Thursday, April 23 was one of those nights you wish you could bottle up and do all over again.
On Thursday, April 23, the inaugural Wyjup Invitational brought together Plantagenet Wines and Juniper Estate for an unforgettable evening at the iconic WACA Ground in Perth.
The event welcomed just under 100 guests, including members of the Plantagenet Royals Club, for a night dedicated to regional expression, conversation, and of course, plenty of wine.

A rare dining experience on the WACA field.
The night began where few ever get to stand.. on the WACA field itself, with a glass of Wyjup Collection and Juniper Estate Blanc de Blancs in hand, freshly shucked oysters, and the sun dropping behind the scoreboard, setting the tone for the tremendous evening to come.
A six-course wine journey across two regions.
From there, we moved upstairs to the newly developed Wally Edwards Function Room within the WACA’s grandstand and lifestyle precinct, where a thoughtfully designed six-course menu awaited. With 12 wines paired across the evening, guests were given a rare opportunity to explore how two distinct regions express themselves side by side. Featuring our sought-after Wyjup Collection alongside a curated selection of Juniper Estates finest, it was a true showcase of quality and regional character.
Braised lamb breast, charred leek, native oregano jus paired with 2021 Wyjup Collection Shiraz, 2020 Heritage Shiraz
We were also delighted to welcome wine writer and sommelier Cyndal Petty, who guided the evening with absolute insight. Alongside her, we heard from WACA CEO John Stephenson, our own Tom Wisdom, and Tom Hill from Juniper Estate. Between the stories and a touch of friendly back-and-forth between Margaret River and the Great Southern, the night became a genuine celebration of place, and simply put, a dedication to some serious top-quality drops.
