Appearance: Very pale gold.
Aroma: Typical Mount Barker floral (rose petal) aromatics, a hint of musk perfume, and a core of citrus influence.
Palate: The palate structure is all about finesse and Riesling purity. Intensity focused citrus flavours glide over the mid-plate followed by fine-boned structure and power. The length and flavour persistence is a feature.

Select fruit parcels from differentially pruned vineyard sections of the South Riesling at Wyjup Vineyard were harvested in the cool of night. The free-run juice and pressings were separated and lightly fined prior to clarification via traditional cold settle and fermentation. A neutral yeast strain was used to highlight the natural fruit characteristics of the vineyard. Fermented cool below 15 degrees in stainless steel to dryness, the wine was racked post-fermentation and light lees retained, with regular stirring, blended to taste with a light fining prior to bottling.

9/10: A cool and wet winter in Mount Barker ensured ample soil moisture for budburst and early season growth, around three weeks behind the long-term average. Early spring rains continued the winter pattern with flowering and fruit sets also delayed by about two weeks, although the wine canopies were well-balanced and healthy. Perfect growing conditions then ensured for December, January, and February, with blue skies, warmer temperatures, and cool, clear nights. By the time harvest commenced in the March, the phenological ripening stages of the vineyards were back to normal, and the season delivered great intensity in the Riesling and aromatic whites.
