2021 Wyjup Collection Malbec

Appearance: Maroon with purple edges.

Aroma: Aromas of mulberry, crushed violets, dark chocolate, graphite and a hint of mint.

Palate: The palate exhibits a core of blue fruits alongside a savoury, mouth-coating tannin grip and sweet nutty oak playing a supporting role.

Fermentation took place in small open-top fermenters with twice-daily pump-overs and cap management tailored to extract rich, supple tannins. Pressed off at dryness and aged in 225L French oak barriques (50% new) for 20 months. The final blend includes 10% of the 2024 vintage to enhance aromatic lift and texture.

7/10 A challenging yet rewarding season, 2023 saw a delayed growth season from a cool, wet spring. April rain events slowed ripening and careful viticultural management was key. Despite this, extended hang time and expert canopy management led to Malbec of great character and complexity.
