The name 'Hazard Hill' originates from one of Plantagenet's pioneer vineyards which contained massive subsurface ironstone and granite boulders. These were painstakingly crushed into pea-size gravel and incorporated into the sandy loam soils to provide the ideal conditions to grow vines for quality wine production.
